Poetry Winner 2008
Ashton was the winner from our school in the " Write a Poem, " competition 2008. She wrote an excellent poem called 9/11. Her poem captures in words the awful tragedy that happened in New York that day.
9/11
Down it came within some hours,
In a place that stood
No trees, no flowers.
The planes they flew,
Flew straight through,
Two buildings full of people,
Like me and you..
Bush sent soldiers to Iraq.
They felt they needed some payback.
The heroes fought
And fought the blaze.
They risked their lives
For ones to be saved.
A man stood up
"We are all going to die."
While others jumped
And tried to fly.
This day it really shook the city.
It brought no joy
But only pity.
And where those towers
Used to stand,
Is Ground Zero
A quiet, peaceful land..
