Banagher Playground

School > Our Locality

On the 20th September 2008 An Taoiseach Brian Cowen officially opened Banagher playground. DJ Anto provided music while pictures of various people from the community were taken enjoying the facilities.

It took a lot of work to get the playground built. There were a lot of meetings and fundraisers such as a fashion show as the committee needed to raise 140,000 Euro. Kieran Flannery Construction built the playground.

On the day of the official opening there was a large turn out of people from all over Offaly. Some cartoon characters such as Bob The Builder, Goofy and Barney arrived.

The playground is located down by the Shannon. It includes swings, slides, roundabouts, climbing frames and other equipment. A lot of people on the boats like to come in and play in the playground. It is a big hit with everyone in the town.
