Green Schools Day of Action

On Thursday 9th Feb. 2012 Fourth Class were divided into 5 groups to work on a Green Project around the school and in Banagher.

  • Litter pick in grounds of old Church and Graveyard.
  • Harvest willow rods and weave them over the whitethorn whips in order to lay the whitethorn hedge.
  • Cut the ties originally used to support the trees planted on the new road which are now choking the same trees.
  • Plant a row of autmn fruiting raspberry canes along the space between the walk and the wall.
  • Prepare three one metre square plots for spring sowing of poppies and cornflowers by removing the top scraw in the marked plots, and shallow digging the ground.
